Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations Names New Director

After a national search the city’s Commission on Human Relations has named a new executive director, Carlos Torres, a former official with National Community Health Partners and the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. Torres is also a 10-year U.S. Army veteran.

The Commission is an independent agency that investigates complaints of alleged discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations within the City of Pittsburgh.

It has searched for two years to name a permanent director, after the retirement of former executive director Charles Morrison. The selection of Torres followed a national search and selection process, led by the Commission’s Personnel Committee Chair Mariana Padias.

A press release on the hiring from the Commission on Human Relations is available here
