PITTSBURGH IRISH FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL “HALFWAY TO THE FESTIVAL” EVENT TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY, MARCH 19

The Pittsburgh Irish Festival is thrilled to announce its latest initiative, a “Halfway to the Festival” party to be help on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Bulgarian-National Educational and Cultural Center (451 West 8th Avenue) in West Homestead, PA. The event will run from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. What better time of year than during the month when Pittsburgh celebrates St. Patrick’s Day! All proceeds from the event will support the organization’s mission to preserve, promote, and contribute to the rich cultural awareness of Irish history and tradition that exists in Pittsburgh. The event will feature live music from local Irish acts including Hooley, The Wild Geese, Terry Griffith, and more to be announced soon. Guests can also enjoy entertainment from world champion Irish step dancers from the Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance, the Pittsburgh Irish Reelers, and the Pittsburgh Ceili Club. Tickets for the event are $40 for adults and $20 for children (children under 2 are free).

In addition to entertainment, guests will receive two complimentary beverages and a traditional Irish meal. They can choose from festival favorites such as Mairin’s Irish Kitchen’s Irish Stew in a Bread Bowl, Craig’s Fine Irish Food’s Fish & Chips, Mairin’s Bread Pudding, Tipperary Green Salad, and many other options! Attendees will receive one free raffle ticket to our “Irish Auction” featuring prizes such as a free night stay at Ace Hotel and a $75 gift card to their restaurant, Whitfield, four complimentary tickets to the Mattress Factory and their new Irish Exhibition, free tickets to the 2017 Pittsburgh Irish Festival, a “Taste of Ireland” whiskey basket, and many more fun prizes! The Celtic Gift Shoppe, which has previously been featured at the Peoples Gas Holiday Market in Market Square, the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, and several Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership Gallery Crawl Night Markets, will also be on hand selling Irish gift items at a special discount just for attendees. The Gift Shoppe will have Irish jewelry, tea, made in Ireland wool sweaters and other clothing, Guinness products, glassware, and decorative items.

The “Halfway to the Festival” celebration will also have plenty of crafts for the kids and be an opportunity for guests to purchase their tickets to the 2017 Pittsburgh Irish Festival at a discounted rate. Additional information about the event is available at www.pghirishfest.org. About the Pittsburgh Irish Festival The Pittsburgh Irish Festival, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation created to contribute to the rich cultural awareness of Irish history and tradition that exists in Pittsburgh. In addition to our three day “Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Festival,” the Pittsburgh Irish Festival has expanded into a year-round resource for education and cultural programs through the creation of the Irish Education Outreach Program. Created in 1991, The Pittsburgh Irish Festival, Inc. has gained recognition as an important presenter of Celtic culture due, in large part, to our highly successful festival. This event has become one of the nation’s finest Irish-American festivals, and certainly the most comprehensive exhibit of Irish music, lore, food, and dance in the region. The Festival is held the weekend after Labor Day in September at Riverplex between Sandcastle and Waterfront. For more information, visit www.pghirishfest.org.
