Hurdle, McCutchen lead Terrible Towel Twirl
Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle, who led the team to their first winning season and playoff appearance in 20 years, and Pirates All-Star centerfielder Andrew McCutchen led the Terrible Towel Twirl before the game, along with breast cancer survivors who were honored pregame.
“We are getting support from Steelers fans, but we are here to support the Steelers,” said Hurdle before the game. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Andrew and myself. We are giving back, throwing
support to Steelers Nation. We built up Buc Nation a little bit and that has been fun and exciting and now we are turning our purpose to help the Steelers out.”
McCutchen and Hurdle both wore Steelers jerseys for the Terrible Towel Twirl, and definitely succeeded in getting the crowd fired up.
“It’s great,” said McCutchen. “The support from all of the teams is unreal and the fans are the same. It helps us come together as a city and as a team.”
