Mr. Pitts touched so many lives in Pittsburgh and throughout the region,  including Ralph P. Watson who posted this tribute on facebook:  "Debt of gratitude is owed my Friend, Mentor, Collegue and Brother The Honorable Robert L. "Bob" Pitts. Through the span of life, selflessly served our country, city and represented our communities. This strong man of God knocked down doors to ensure civil rights, equal pay, minority contracts, fair housing and job inclusion. He led with with integrity and character while always standing on the side of right. As President of the N.A.A.C.P leading a protest, serving on a community board or as Mayor of Wilkinsburg bringing the police together to meet with gang members. Bob had the God-given skill and the innate ability to bring adverse sides to the table and establish positive outcomes. Throughout his outstanding career of "service" to others, he has acclaimed many titles and honors, yet remained humble and continued to "Fight the good Fight" My Brother, Collegue, Mentor and Friend....your friendship and memory will be cherished and you will be missed by many!"

"A very young and handsome picture of The Honorable Robert L. (Bob) Pitts, my hero, my husband."

Mrs. Pitts posted a photo of Mr. Pitts back in the day working in the community on her facebook page.
