2019 Human Rights Film Series

The Urgency of Dialogue


The University's 12th annual Human Rights Film Series offers a line-up of six films that try to inspire dialogues about some of the most critical human rights issues facing today's world.

Tuesday, January 29: White Right: Meeting the Enemy (2017). Muslim film-maker, Deeyah Khan, in daring dialogues with white supremacists

Monday, February 4: The Bystander Moment: Transforming Rape Culture at its Roots (2018). A timely look at a culture of silence in the face of sexual harassment and abuse and other forms of gender violence.

Wednesday, February 13: Downstream (2018). A look at the contamination and protection of Pennsylvania's waterways.

Monday, February 18: The Cleaners (2018). An investigation of outsourced content moderators charged with censuring what we see on the internet.

Wednesday, February 20: The Silence of Others (2018). A story about the victims of oppression, torture and murder under General Franco's 40-year dictatorship in Spain and their struggle for justice.

Tuesday, February 26: The Great While Hoax: Donald Trump & The Politics of Race and Class in America (2017). A film about race-relations and white privilege in America.
