Celebrating 150 years of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace justice, freedom, and dignity for all, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh is hosting an Anniversary Gala event featuring former Second Lady of the U.S. Dr. Jill Biden.

Dr. Jill Biden and her husband Joe Biden are the honorary co-chairs of the Biden Foundation, established in 2017, to build upon the couple’s lifelong commitment to protect and advance the rights and opportunities of all people through educational programming and public policy analysis.

The 150th Anniversary Gala dinner event will be held on Friday, April 13 at the Wyndham Grand in Downtown Pittsburgh at 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.ywcapgh.org/150-gala or by calling 412. 255-1261.

“For 150 years, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh has marked its history by providing women and children with safe housing, job programs, education initiatives and affordable health care as well promoting equality and justice for everyone. Dr. Biden’s tireless efforts on behalf of those who need a voice closely reflect what the YW tries to do every day in our region,” said Magdeline E. Jensen, Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Greater Pittsburgh.

Presenting sponsor of the 150th Anniversary Gala event is Huntington Bank.  Huntington Bank maintains its traditional support for the many essential YWCA programs in the Pittsburgh region as the agency continues its efforts to eliminate racism and empower women.  PNC and the Eden Hall Foundation are also sponsors.

According to YWCA Board President LaJuana Fuller, “Our organization has done the hard work of making lives better, safer and more fulfilling for women and children and enhancing justice and freedom in our region for 150 years.  That’s a remarkable span of time and a legacy for which we are very proud.” Fuller is co-chair of the Gala with former YWCA Board member Betsy Teti.

The 150th Anniversary Gala is the major fundraiser for the YWCA and all proceeds will benefit the organization’s programs and outreach efforts. The evening event includes a reception for guests with hors d'oeuvres, full bar and three-course dinner.
